Is There A Way To Find Out The Website From Which You Saved An Image?

There are several pictures I have on my computer that I want to use in another context, only to realize that I don't know where I pulled them from, and can't seem to locate them again. Is a web address for the JPEG stored somewhere on my computer? Any way to find out?

Thanks!

Update:

Thanks for the info, guys. It'd seem the sources are lost, since I regularly clean out my history/cookies/saved pages/etc. and these are from pretty long ago.

At best, you might type the exact image file name and extension in your google search if you havent changed it.

Many years ago when I used a Mac (System 7, OS8) the source would often appear in the Get Info (click the file, hit Command-i) dialog. I suppose, though I don't know for sure, that current Macs probably keep track of this as well.

On Windows, this information is not available from the JPG itself. Your best bet is to investigate your browser history and see if you can re-trace the steps you followed to find the image in the first place. You might also try entering the filename into a search engine to see if that will bring up the associated web page.

doubtful, especially if you clear your internet files from your web browser.

if you use firefox, hit ctrl+j which will open your download manager, and will show recent downloads. right click, open source and itll take you there, that's firefox though, and only if you haven't cleaned your history.

try google though. type a description of it in google or google images, see what pops up.

If you have a Mac, you can right-click and select "Get Info", then under the "More Info" heading is "Where From".

Might be something similar under "Properties" on the PC?
