Why would the Eagles sign Jeff Garcia?

Kolb's the only active quarterback. They don't know how long McNabb could be out, and Vick is still suspended. If Kolb goes down next week, they're screwed.

In my opinion Kevin Kolb sucks. I don't like him at all. I would rather see the dog beating Vick out there than him (though he couldn't play anyways, not till week 3). I think that Jeff Garcia is a great qb and still has a few good years left. I really don't like Kolb and I can't see him doing real well against the Saints...

Vick can't play yet and if something happens to Kolb they'd be fornicated. :-)

Garcia already knows the Eagles offense and is the best short term fix until McNabb returns and or until Vick can play.

The acquisition of Vick actually relegated Kolb to #3 behind Vick as the future #2.

If Garcia hadda stayed in Philly he’da pro’lly been #2 buhind McNabb and Vick would be #3.

Next season Kolb’ll pro’lly be gone.

With McNabb being hurt they had to sign someone. If Kolb gets hurt against the Saints they would be in big trouble. Garcia already knows the system and is a better option then A.J. Feeley.

Pretty much specially since they put Garcia infront of Kolb when we had him but garcia is a lot better than Kolb and he run the eagle offense beter and he did get us to the playoffs

Because he can still play. They shouldn't have cut him to begin with. I think Jeff Garcia is one of the most underrated QBs EVER! All he does is step in and win, then he gets cut for someone the teams THOUGHT would better.

Garcia is a gamer, a known entity since he took them to the play offs once before when Donavon was injured. At least they have vick in their back pocket if MacNabb cant return.

I think its more that they don't have faith in Vick if McNabb is gone longer than a couple of weeks. Signing Garcia means that they want a reliable veteran backup, because they don't think they have one now.
