In a shaky economy Obama puts tariffs on chinese tires. Does he not care about the economy & a trade fight?

This will cost us jobs. I guess the union vote means everything to him even at the expense of the economy- amazing.

Update:

Wow, the level of education here is amazing. I guess you guys all flunked Econ. 101. Remember the Smoot-Hawley Act and it making the great depression worse? Restricting trade hurts our economy. It does not create more jobs, it destroys them and makes us worse off.

I actually agree with him on this one. We should be tariffing everything from China until the trade imbalance comes a little closer to even. I don't have the numbers in front of me but we import somewhere near 4 times the amount of products that they import from us. A trade war? Please, lets. How long is china going to last without the Americans to buy from them. It would also stimulate our economy. It would be rough at first until the need for increased domestic production became an actual increase in domestic production, but oh the benefits. The number of jobs it would create would be staggering. We may even have to increase the number of immigrants we let in due to a labor shortage. Damned if it doesn’t sound like something that will benefit everyone.

    Obama doesn't care.

Look around your retail stores most items are made in China.

Restrict trade with China or other countries like Tiawan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Viet Nam and American Retail revenue will drop causing the finacial markets to drop as well as employment in the retail sector.

If those products were made in the USA Americans could't afford them. That's why they are made offshore.

Tariffs increase the trade within the country, and eliminates the outsourcing. It's actually creating jobs

Pissing off China is not a good thing. China buys our debt.

He's trying to help an American industry, ergo, he's helping the economy. It certainly won't cost jobs, it will increase them. Your logic, or lack of it, is pitiful.

What, on earth, is a 'trade fight'?
