Wouldn't it be a lot easier if....?
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to answer computer questions if people knew the difference between:
Unistalling - deleting - installing - downloading - formatting - rebooting - reinstalling - restoring.
... and if people said what version of Windows there were using or even if it was a Mac.
And this isn't just old people - this is people at college or whatever. What do schools teach about IT?
Its almost like we were still in the late 1980s.....

99% of computer users want a computer to be as easy to use as a telephone. Remember those things? If it rang, you picked it up and you could talk with the person on the other end. If you wanted to talk to someone you dialed their number, waited for them to answer and you could talk to them. What user even heard of a Strowger, or multi-freq tones? You tell them to not use torrent programs to download "free" movies, then they come here crying because "no one told" them what would happen. Or they ask how to do something impossible, you tell them it can't be done and they say that they don't want to hear it can't be done, they want to know how to do it.
(In the late 80s I was designing computer vision systems.)
We need a better class of computer users.
(I'm reminded of the old Microsoft joke that ended with "... so pack your computer up and send it back. You're too stupid to use a computer.")

If I had a dollar for every time someone said they need to "reboot" their computer, and they meant reinstalling Windows, I would be a very happy person.

"my computer crashes" is enough information
this place would be nicer if there was a rule that said
"if your problem can be solved my simple googling, or the manufactures website, your account will be banned"
