Senate passes Acorn funding ban?

I have the news on right now and this is what is being said:

The Senate passes Acorn funding ban in a 83-7 vote.

Now it goes to the house.

Brooklyn DA launches a criminal investigation into Acorn.

The 7 sentators that voted against the ban are:

Leahey

Durbin

Casey

Burris

Gilldibrand

Landes

Whitehouse

Acorn has gotten more than 53 million dollars of taxpayer money! So far 3 videos have come to light with Acorn workers telling how to side step government rules to help a young couple (sting) set up a brothel with underage illegals from another country. These videos are from Boston, NY and I forgot the other state in the south. This is criminal and illlegal. Most news stations are not reporting this. We need to make sure no more taxpayer money goes to this organizationl.

Future, I don't see anything in the original question that has anything to do with partisan politics. But you brought it up so you must be obsessed with it. Fact is it doesn't matter what politicians gave this organization the money. It just matters that it is a totally corrupt organization that is breaking laws and tax codes and advising others to do so as well. The proof is now on tape. And the people who did the sting have nothing to do with either party. It's time to start hacking away at this type of corruption within our federal government (on both "sides")and this is a good step in that direction.

This would cost democrats, votes. You can't stop funding simply for political expediency over some individuals discretion, rumors and tabloid bloated out of proportion by republicans smear tank I don't know if this actually happened. But if it did, congress will go to the republicans. coming next 2010. Because ACORN shouldn't have to pay for what one individual does. Otherwise we all be out of work for what one of our coworker does. I don't even know if this suppose coworker even works for Acorn. For all I know it is a republican passing him self as a Acorn worker. Or someone paid off to play along.

And they reported all the fraudulent registration. So how can the be responsible, when they are being proactive. None of those Mikey Mouse names ever voted.

You guys are pathetic losers, and you will lose again coming 2010 and 2012.

It only covers a small cut to a specific dept. of ACORN.

It's not a total cut off of all funding , just a small token gesture to make it appear the 0bama administration disapproves of ACORN's activities.

Lets not forget 400,000 fraudulent voter registrations (admitted to by ACORN), the 14 states they are under investigation in for fraud in, and they have had over 60 people arrested for fraud thus far and 30 more plea bargains

    Which news?

If it's Fox are you sure it's not Sean's wishful thinking, or Beck's drunken DTs?

I love the guy below me - Acorn admitted to some fraudulent forms (which they themselves reported) they filed about 400,000 total forms - therefore in AM right wing radio logic that equals 400,000 FRAUDULENT FORMS - you guys are such friggin idiots it's pathetic.

Source(s): Acorn got most it's money from Bush! And McCain was a supporter and speaker for them - don't pretend this is somehow relevant to partisan politics. They just didn't say those things on those videos - you are lying!
  • I think they just did make sure.

Can you give a link? I want to have a look at the senators who voted against. I think one's from my state (unless there are two Senator Caseys)

If you're going to ban funding from ACORN, you should ban it from all signature gathering and voter registration organizations.

This could and should have been done months ago but Conyers was told to stop and assume a "hands off by the powers that be"

    VOTE THE INCUMBENTS OUT!
