edelbrock carb 600/1405 rebuild?

i got the carb from a friend he says it's been sitting for about a year and may need to be rebiult. my question is " can it be easily rebuilt by the average joe or do i need to take it to a shop? does the rebuild consist of buying the kit, taking the carb apart, then replacing the parts then re-assemble?

Edelbrock carbs are the absolute easiest carbs to rebuild. Its so simple to do and just about every autoparts store caries the rebuild kit and it comes with good directions.

I've mostly only had to rebuild motorcycle carbs but I've worked with car carbs too. Generally speaking a rebuild kit will contain high wear parts that will need to be replaced. You will probably have to take apart the carb to replace those parts and then re-assemble.

carb. vehicles are either antique or worthless, when carb. were new they didn't work right. in 35 years i have never ,repeat NEVER found anybody that could work on one. take it to a race shop for an install and prepare for the damn thing to piss you of constantly, also today's crappy fuel wont work right in it. unless its on a show car throw that hunk of crap away and get fuel injected vehicles from now on. SORRY

pay attention to the linkages and small parts when you take it apart, match everything up that you replace, and you should be able to do it yourself without a problem
