My computer shuts down when i play a game . . .?

I have Dell Inspirion 1525 Laptop (Dos Based) having Windows Xp running on it. I bought it 1 year back. I play many games on it. It also has a Graphic Card, and Net protector Antivirus installed on it. But when I play a game for more than half an hour my computer shuts down suddenly in the middle of the game. Also sometimes when I switch off the computer it shuts down, but automatically starts again

Update:

I am have the game card( geforce 512 mb), sufficient ram. Also i have Intel Core 2 Quad.

This issue can be due to 3 issue

    1. RAM incompatible with the games

    2. Any application program or virus making the system busy

    3. Over heating

    1. If you play big games then check the game is compatible with the RAM

    2. Check for virus through full scan through updated antivirus

    3. Check out that the exhaust from the laptop is completely open so as the heat is exhaust

all computers have graphics cards how else would you be able to see anything on your screen but any way i would say that you dont have enough ram in ur pc or your pushing the amount that your using now check how much you got then look at the specs for the game on the box it will tell you how much of what you need ex hdd, ram, os stuff like that

is your battery alright... generally its a weak battery....but since its specific to gaming i want to ask you if u have a dual core processor... games don't run that well on a dual core processor since both processors handle instances of the game and sometimes it might result in processor conflicts.. try to run the game on one processor by going to task manager and selecting single processor for the game...if these arnt the problems i suggest u get your Ram checked... the ram might have conked out or is not getting its power supply due to a fault in the circuit which might restart the OS...hope this helps...

There might be some technical error on your laptop, take it to Dell service center but before that remove junk from it, (use CCleaner software)

check cooling of processor it may be running hot because of insufficient cooling.

check power adapter it may not be able to handle power for that long

for your knowledge it is a SMPS giving 18-19V DC as per laptop requirement.

for auto restart of your computer, check following

Go to control panel-->power Option-->go to Hibernet tab then if Enable Hibernation is checked then make it clear.

Sudden stopping of game is due to low power processor, if its powerful processor then increase RAM
