The smartest thing you could do first is go to your public library's periodicals section and look at the most recent Car issue of Consumer Reports magazine. You will find a list of good, reliable used cars, what models and years are better, and how much you can expect to pay. There is also a list of used vehicles to avoid. It is solid, factual information that can help you avoid buying a chick magnet that won't run. :-)
