What's the point of the console war?
I'm talking about the ones between "which console is the best" not "which console will sell the most." Cause the wii already won that a long time.
Anyways, is there any point? Can't we all just agree that all consoles are great. They've all got their cons and pros. The 360 has the best online, but can break down easily. The PS3 is the most powerful, meaning more epic games, but is also the most complicated, so it's harder for developers to make games. Which means games come out less often. The wii appeals to the casual crowd, and has virtual console for the old school crowd, but it doesn't have a lot of games that aren't rehashes of old ones.
Anyone who even considers shooting me down is a fanboy, end of discussion.
Wow, no one seems to be answering the question I'm asking.
I'm asking about why the fans keep raving on about which is the best. Not why the Nintendo, Microsoft, & Sony are competing against each other. That's plain obvious. It's competition.
Cralzorx, what I meant by shoot me down is like, "omfg, u suck, [insert console of their choice here], go 2 hell" So no, you're not.

There's no point to the war, it's just senseless fanboys patting themselves on the back for making the 'right' choice. Real gamers will probably end up with all of them because like you said each one is good for different reasons.

The console wars are about the three major console manufacturers trying to make money. It's all about the dollars.
360 rushed and sent out ill-made products, knowing that as long as the system was out first, they could fix any issues down the line.
PS3 waited, and produced an incredibly powerful, yet complex system with crap for online service (though they say it's going to get a lot better, we'll see I guess)
Nintendo just appealed to the casual gamer market, which is increasing more rapidly than any other market at this point. Couple that with the inability to buy a Wii for months and months (aka demand increases as supply decreases) and you have people just aching to give you their money.

it's ridiculously simple... as with anything, COMPETITION! Having more consoles means there are more companies competing for business which means lower prices and better quality product for everyone. That's pretty obvious isn't it? It all comes down to business.
yes every console has pros and cons but each company can bring those strengths and weakness to light which ultimately benefits the companies themselves and then it benefits us as well with the better product.
the original Xbox started with the xbox live feature and then the other two consoles tried to imitate so now all three consoles can go online. Xbox 360 interface wasn't that great before but because of the Wii interface, the 360 changed it to much a better looking desktop.
So you see, competition is a good thing.

I agree with you. The point is though that wii has won the game so far. The Elite and PS3 just went down $100 and with the new technology coming out on both systems, for microsoft it is project Natal and for Playstation it is the motion control wand. I personally am looking forward to seeing more on this Project Natal. Anyways, as far as why we have different systems it is because everybody is different and some people like games others don't. I personally don't see why they don't just all merge together and create a super game system, so we never have to buy another. But that's my opinion, take it or leave it.

that's the companies. they're out to get one yet another. all of it has to do with funds. Who sells the main structures or video games. i'm with you. i've got owned a Xbox360 and a PS3 and that they are the two somewhat great. they do merely issues incredibly different. i do no longer probable choose the belief of "gadget unique" video games. working example, Halo is merely on Xbox, Xbox 360, or workstation. All microsoft stuff. Pokemon, is merely on nintendo structures. Wii, DS, N64 ect. I completely accept as true with you on the Wii situation. the main battles of the console wars are complete with PS3 and Xbox.
