id like to know, of all the drivers sacked mid season, how many have had even marginal success in F1 after?
im talking championships & race wins, i might even take podiums,
so of all the drivers sacked mid season we have prost, and i'll admit nelson jr is no prost,
and i believe vettel was a fill in driver at bmw. not really sacked
so can we agree that prost is the exception and nelson more than likely was done with any chance of greatness? at best i think he was destin for a STR, more than likely he was going to be a test driver, touring cars or comming to the states

Alain Prost,
Sacked by Ferrari prior to the Australian GP 1991.
Returned in 1993 won 7 races for Williams and the World Championship.
Does he fit the bill?
Edit, Even if he was better than he is, I wouldnt think any team would take him on after all of this. I'm sure there will have been other drivers sacked during the season that went on to have some success, but i cant think of them of the top of my head, when does Rosbif come back?

Peter Gethin was sacked by McLaren in 1971, turned up at BRM at Italy and won second time out for the new team, by the smallest margin in history, just one hundredth of a second ahead of ronnie Peterson. Though after this triumph, Gethin only ever finished in the points once more.
