Is a brand new car's MSRP negotiable?
I'm looking to buy a brand new 2010 model year car, and I went online and saw what the MSRP is. That same MSRP is what a local dealership is selling it for.
Is this price negotiable? If so, by what percentage can a dealership realistically reduce a brand new car's price?
not2befooled, kbb and edmunds give the MSRP for a new car.. I already know what that is. Can the price be adjusted beyond that? If so, by what percentage?

Absolutely. Edmunds gives you not only MSRP, but also True Market Value - the price people are paying for your car in your area.
There are a couple of exceptions to this - "no haggle" dealerships, like Saturn, or cars that are in very high demand (in which case, the TMV would reflect that). Even for highly sought after cars you should give negotiating a shot.
As to how much of a discount you can get, it depends on the car's invoice price (i.e., what the dealer paid the manufacturer for the car). KBB and Edmunds will give you the invoice price for every model, in addition to the MSRP.
Best of luck.

Never pay MSRP for a car, I usually try to get a car for invoice price or better, negotiating with dealers can be tricky but there are always ones that think they are better then you and then there are ones that just want business, always remember when you negotiate start low you can only make your way up, I hope this helps good luck

You can look online at www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com for pricing info; the best way may be to use the Consumer Reports feature where you choose a car and for a fee, they will give a complete printout of the vehicle, all options avail and the prices

Always, It just depends on how bad the dealer wants to sell the vehicle. You have to decide what you want to give for the vehicle ahead of time and stick to it. If the salesman really wants to sell it he will. Example 06 Mustand dealer wanted 24,000 was sold for 16,000. to a friend of mine.
