Forever Knight and Angel.......?
I used to watch Forever Knight a long time ago and liked the series. I forgot all about it until tonight when I saw it on youtube. I've also watched (and loved!!) Angel. I prefer Angel over Forever Knight any day but did they perhaps "steal" the idea? Even the music at the start of the show is too similar to be ignored. Then it's the whole....I was an evil vamp for centuries and now I need to repay my sins by doing good in the world...ya know? I know all about the differences in the particulars of the shows but do you know what I mean? Did the makers of Angel rip off Forever Knight?? I hope not!

I haven't seen any specific interviews with Joss Whedon to suggest he ripped off the idea completely but he would've definitely used it as inspiration. Sometimes an idea just sparks the imagination and when Joss was creating Angel he probably used that as a template but he spun it off into a different direction. I have to give Joss the benefit of the doubt since he is one of my favourite writer/directors at the moment and i can't believe he'd intentionally steal the idea. Besides he did it way better and if you're going to do something that's been done that's the way you want to go. A closer ripoff for Forever Knight would be Moonlight and that crap was awful. There's nothing original in hollywood anymore. The best you can hope for is that someone takes an established idea and puts a better spin on it which is what happened.
