Yes it will be the best fight of the decade if we are to base it on the significance and stakes of the fight.

The fight will be extremely close though unlike Mayweather and Marquez due to a few reasons:

Styles make fights. Counterpuncher vs counterpuncher with defensive genius...Result: the better, bigger and faster will win. This is what happened to Mayweather and Marquez. Almost everyone who has boxing knowledge predicted this before the fight. That is why the interest in this fight is not so significant as other superfights of recent.

Pacman is a fighter and a puncher unlike Marquez who is a counterpuncher. Pac would not wait. He will NOT throw 1-2 combinations but 3-4-5 combinations. He will not stop on round 1-6, he will haunt you till the end of round 12. That is the major difference.

Mayweather won't be able to dominate against a puncher who has as much speed and power as he does, probably even more. If he does what he did to Marquez like putting his head forward and showing off, we all know what will happen. Pac will give a flurry of shots. PBF may be able to defend against 1 or 2 shots but not with the amount of shots Pacman will deliver to him coming from all sort of angles. Dela Hoya knows this too well.

Pacquiao vs Marquez was between a counterpuncher and a puncher, that's why it was that close. You have a good counterpuncher and an excellent puncher.

A fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao will be the same. Add the big difference of Pacquiao being so much faster and powerful than Marquez. Mayweather has never fought a "fighter" as fast and as powerful as Pacman. PBF will not fight the same version of Pacman that fought and defeated Marquez years back. He will face the updated version- a more complete, bigger and faster "small" fighter who hasn't been knocked down in the last 10 years or so and who have either knocked down, knocked out or TKO'ed his last 10 opponents whether in the lower or higher weights lately.

Pacman brings his speed and power even at higher weights. That is a fact evidenced by his actual performance in the ring and not just opinion. And at this stage in Pacquiao's career and performance, he is a complete destroyer with both his right and left hand. He has also showed great skills, smarts and discipline when following a game plan in his last few fights.

You cannot say that because Mayweather disposed of Marquez more convincingly than Pacman (old version), he will dispose of Pacman (updated version) that easily too. Remember the old version Pacquiao also beat Marquez, albeit closely due to their differing boxing style. But Pacman fought Marquez at his weight class and at his peak not when he is already 36 yrs old. Note: PBF vs Marquez fight was at the desired weight of Mayweather.

But if you wanna use that analogy, then it is also right to point out that the updated version of Pacman also disposed of Dela Hoya and Hatton not only more convincingly but destroyed those 2 fighters which Mayweather struggled to do. Note both those 2 fighters were also punchers and Pacman fought these 2 fighters outside of his comfortable weight.

I was indeed very interested with the fight between Mayweather and Marquez last night because it will determine the next fight of Manny Pacquiao if ever he wins the fight against Miguel Cotto this coming November. But with what I saw of Mayweather's fight last night, I can say that Manny should really work hard on his speed and power punches to beat Floyd..

Floyd is just too big for Manny and has also an unpredictable dancing moves inside the ring...To beat Floyd, Pacquiao should adapt to the fighting style of Floyd...This could be a very interesting fight...but I cannot determine yet if this can be the best fight of the year...not unless if Floyd would stop clowning around his oponent and really go toe to toe with Manny...That's what I'm waiting at...A real battle between the two.

Definitely has the potential to be THE best fight of 2010. Mayweather should win that fight. I like Manny Pacquiao and think he is an exciting fighter but he also has shrewd management who took advantage of guys who had already lost and were not real threats. Mayweather has been criticized for his selection of opponenents but in all honesty consider this. Have you seen Pacquiao's people challenging Paul Williams or Margarito or Shane Mosley? NO. They went after guys who had recently lost and had styles they knew would make him look good. DLH and Hattons lack of speed they knew Manny could and did, expose. Mayweather is faster and just as quick as Manny and has a better defense I dont care how much better people claim Manny has gotten in the last few years. Mayweather is in a class all by himself and he will prove it by beating Mosley, Pacquiao and then maybe Margarito to end his career. It wont be until he is gone that his critics will realize just how special he was.

I think it'll be the best fight of 2010. Both are very talented. Either can win the fight. It is very hard to pick a side if you are not a fan of either of them. Defense-wise, Mayweather is better, and on the other side, Offense-wise, Pacquiao is definitely better. I dont know anyone who can match Mayweather's defense so as Pacquiao's offense.

It'll be a fight to see. It will be the decisive factor of the P4P title.

For now, I pick Pacquiao. I'll give it a 51-49 in favor of Pacquiao. But who knows?

I think it would be the best of 2010, yes. The final P4P decider. I give Manny a 55-45 edge if they fight at lightweight. Hopefully Manny's camp wont fall into the trap that Marquez's camp fell into, having their fighter fight Floyd at welterweight when their fighter is a natural lightweight/featherweight. That was ridiculous. Marquez was fighting 18 pounds heavier than his natural weight and 9 pounds heavier than he's ever fought at before. Didn't work out so well.

You guy must have watched UFC last night or something! The cycle NEVER ENDS!!! It AMAZES me how much in denial these PAC-RATS are!!!! Manny's lunging punches are tailor made for Floyd's style. I see round two of last night's fight happening on more than one occasion with Manny. The only reason he could get away with those lunging punches was due to his speed, but against a quicker counter-punching MASTER, I see Manny getting tagged everytime he comes in like that. Mayweather by KO in 9th or 10th round.

Why stop at 2010? That has every probability of becoming THE fight of the century! Even with the century being this young.
