Your premise is backwards. People are concerned about climate change *because* of its negative impacts on civilization.

No..they are using sound data from scientists all over the world that if we dont act now to reduce the amount of pollution and the destruction of natural resources that they will have profound negative repercussions for the earth and its inhabitants in the immediate future.

But that is their stated goal! Conservationists want to control and recycle resources using the best technology available to sustain our planets growing population. Environmentalists desire to restrict the use of technology to the elites of the world allowing reduced resources to contract populations through starvation and war over those resources as is currently taking place in parts of Africa where Islam is weeding out those who follow other religions and philosophies.
