Question about singing (Breathing correctly)?
just started really getting into singing, and found out about the proper breathing technique. but I'm having trouble with this while standing up. like when i breathe in i can't seem to do it right, like i can only breathe into my chest (in which I run out of breath faster) i can't seem to get the full breathing technique without straining myself... any ideas?

Its not that your running out of the breath to quickly. You need to put the note first then breath. also try breathing through your nose and mouth at the same time and doing so slowly. then let it out very slow

Are you a dancer? If so you might be holding yourself too pulled in for singing. Try and relax your abdominal muscles.
If you're still struggling, I would say don't worry about it for a while. It's still very much the tradition to teach breathing first, but there are very successful teachers out there who don't. It's something you can keep revisiting.
As long as you are singing safely, it doesn't matter so much when you're just beginning. Good luck with it.

okay well as you may already know, when you inhale, you should feel (and see) your stomach move out. and then when you breathe out, it should move back in. remember to NEVER let your shoulders move in any way when you breathe. a good technique is to do about 15 jumping jacks then lay down and notice the way your stomach moves. then try to do that when you stand. also always stand straight and try not to force it. remember nobodies perfect the first time. practice! practice! practice! hope i helped :D

Don't think about breathing.. That's how I do it.. If i'm worried about hitting the note correctly instead of breathing i wont run out of air too quick.... just my technique.

Think about pushing out your stomache, and then squeezing it in. Practice makes perfect. One way to practice is to lay on the ground, place a heavy chapter book on your stomache and breather. You should be able to see the book going up and down. As you get better, you will be able to make the books heavier. Good luck!!

sit down/get up at as quickly as. Your shoulders shouldn't circulate up once you sing. do not breathe out of your lungs, you will possibly desire to respire out of your diaphragm (your abdomen). Your abdomen needs to develop and your breathes want o be deep. once you sense such as you have run out of air, you nonetheless have extra left, determine you utilize it.
