Spanish speakers: What is the exact translation for the following lyrics?

It's the Spanish version of the Shakira song; La Loba.

Una loba en el armario

Tiene ganas de salir

Deja que se coma el barrio

Antes de irte a dormir

Now I know the English version aswell,

There's a She-wolf in the closet

open up and let her free...

but I want to know if it translates as exactly the same thing or a little different?

i can't speak for every spanish speaker, since i'm mexican american and every latin countries translation is different, but it literally says...

    a shewolf in the closet

    with a desire to leave

    let her eat the hood

    before you go to sleep

alot songs don't get the rough translation due to the fact that they don't sound the same in a different launguage. it doesn't sound as beautiful or gets the same point or felling across. so, the y tend to church it up to give people the warm fuzzies. does that make sense??? i hope this helped out a little.

  • The English translation to the Spanish song is as such:

    "The female wolf (She-wolf)

A she-wolf in the armoire [this word is used for closet in Spanish]

Has the urges to come out

Let her eat up the town

    Before you go to sleep."

So to answer your question, no it does not translate literally or exactly. I'm not familiar with the phrase "let her eat up the town" in Spanish, so I'm not sure if it has a specific meaning, or if it's just meant to mean that she's gonna "go all the way." I'm assuming it just means "let her eat you up, before you go to sleep."

    A wolf in the cupboard

    It wants to go out

It leaves that one eats the quarter

    Before going away to sleep

The English is a pretty good translation.

Not exact, because it has to fit the music.

I would translate those lines thus:

"A (female) wolf in the closet

    Wants to go out.

    Let her eat the neighborhood

Before you go to bed (or to sleep)."

Nice images, in a non-linear sort of way.

the name of the song is "She Wolf"

    translation:

there's a she wolf in your closet

open up and set her free

there's a she wolf in your closet

let it out so it can breathe
