How can I find out what type of ATF I should be putting into my 96 Saturn SL2?
Unfortunately, I do not have the owners manual handy, nor any chilton guides.

The stick you pull out to check it with should say on it. Or any part store should be able to give you the specifications. Don't just take someones word for it check your self. Tell like autozone you need to service your transmission but need to know the specs on it. They will have it in there computer. Hope this will help.

If you have the owners manual check that first; if not then check what is engraved on the trans dipstick; at last resort call your local Saturn Dealerships parts dept. Happy motoring!

Dextron II or III would work, but from what I hear Dextron III is the way to go.
