I'm getting an Epidural Steroid Injection in my back, and I drank Orange Juice without thinking...?
Can I still get the injection? I drank it an hour and fifteen minutes ago. My paper says not to drink anything 6 hours prior to my procedure.
But under conscious sedation, it says on another sheet that I can drink clear liquids up to 8oz 2 hours prior to my appointment.
Will the orange juice I drank affect anything causing complications? Can I still get the Epidural Steroid Injection in an hour?

The reason you are not supposed to have anything to drink is to prevent any complications. Some people have been known to vomit and doing this under anesthesia could cause it to go into the lungs. People have been known to die from this.
That is the standard medical answer. Normally anything you drink leaves your stomach in less than 2 hours. I have had things to drink before having the procedure you are having and I've never had any problems.
In the end, what you do is up to you and the amount of risk you are willing to take.

Orange juice is NOT a clear liquid and is a big NO NO before this kind of procedure.
You need to let them know and re-schedule.
