what animal would tear up a yellow jacket nest from underground?

the hole was big enough for a large cat to get into and there were pieces of the nest outside

    I looked in search for yellow jacket predators and there is a lot of info.

    One called science write:

    "After a few minutes, my students and I quickly dig up the nest and place it and the yellow jackets into a sealed box."

    This site has more information that might make good reading.

    Uk here we don't have Yellow Jackets so I learnt about these. Thanks

    I've seen one torn up by a bear. The hole wasn't as big. There were distinct paw prints, so I'm sure it was a bear.
