What is the average age for people buying a second home?
Usually people have there starter homes in some cases and I wanted to know how long do people stay in there first home & what age they try for a second.
I 've been in my first home for 12 years and I'm 39 but I see my family is out growing the home my dilemma is having a mortgage for 30 yrs when I'm 39 do the math.

Just like the average age for people buying their first home varies dramatically.
Some people buy the starter home and stay there until they die.
Some people buy the starter home and move up. We're in our 4th, and owned a couple on the side as well.

probably 5-10 yrs after buying their first home - I didn't buy my first one until age 46 and I intend to keep it until I retire and then I hope to build my second and final home. growing up, i lived in 3 houses from ages 5-24
