Is the Governor of Mass right to Boycott the Hyatt hotels,?
They fired employees, to have them replaced with people from another state who would work for less. (probably illegal immigrants).

It's their business. They can do whatever they want with it. Its not up to the governor to determine who is or isnt fired. Its up to the owner of the hotel.

Not a big fan of Deval but the state has every right to boycott and no it is not interfering in private business
It is State's right to decide they do not want to do business with a hotel chain that tells MA resident employees to train "vacation help" and then fire the those employees to use cheap out of state labor.
This will reduce MA tax revenue and make the State overall poorer....so why should the State be forced to use the services of a company that acts AGAINST the interests of the population of MA?
No private citizen has to boycott, all the Gov has done is seen "hey they just basically punched MA in the nose...well I will not give them my business anymore and encourage others to do the same"
Just like ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD WOULD!!!!!!
the hotel chain has to live in the business world and maybe this really is the choice they have to make.....but why do we need to give them a parade and shower them with praise for basically shifting MA money out of the state leaving the state with less money to pay for schools, public transportation, civil services, etc?
saying the gov is wrong here is just plain crazy talk that indicates the need for psychoactive drugs
Veleno45 > This is free market. Gov doesn't like what they did which screws MA over so he will not give them state business anymore. What is so wrong about that? Just like if you have a real bad experience at said hotel you will never go back...should I accuse you of trying to destroy the free market and capitalism?

No. The governor is in simple terms kowtowing to the union. He would desire to go away inner maximum business enterprise on my own. If i became into CEO of the Hyatt chain i'd close down each of the inns in Mass and enable the governor take care of the losses of those jobs.

I'm somewhat confused at why the hotel fired them. The article said to cut pay by hiring lower wage workers.
Well did they ask the current employees if they were willing to take a pay cut and keep their jobs?
I can see if they refused and what not why they were fired, but the way the article makes it sound they never even asked them.
So one way I agree with the boycott and the other way I think it is completely uncalled for.

No the Governor is not right. He is interfering with private industry. If a group will work legally for less money, then Hyatt has every right to use them. This is part of the problem with the Fed Govt and budgeting. If our Fed Govt bought products and services on the open market they would do better, but they don't. They use higher priced buys because of stipulations for minority owned businesses, classifications, etc. Let the free market be free!

And yet that idiot Deval Patrick has no problem firing police officers and firefighters.

There is no "right" or "wrong" in boycotting. It is just a choice.
