Does anyone remember the Malkies? Maukies? Mockeys?

They were a family of platinum blond wrestlers in the WCW. I remember them around the late 80's. There were several no name wrestlers and the Mockies were some of them.

The reason I remember them is because one time from out of no where the crowd began cheering for them and chanting "Mockies, Mockies, Mockies!" Of course they still lost but the managers must have decided to give them a chance.

They even had one interview where they were saying "We're going to come out and we are going to kick your butt...etc."

The next match it was back to usual and even though the announcers got into it saying "It's Mockie-mania running wild" when they would start to come back; the Mockies still ended up losing to the weekly bad guy.

Never to rise again...

anyone.

It was MULKEY actually, and yes, I remember the hapless jobbers.

I remember them well. They had been jobbers for years in WCW (when it was still part of the NWA) when one Saturday they faced a masked tag team called The Gladiators, who were dressed entirely in purple with white trim on their masks. One of the Mulkeys would counter an Irish whip with a cross body block of the turn buckles and score a pinfall win over The Gladiators. The (short lived) phenomenon known as "Mulkeymania" was born. This win (which was the only one they ever had as full time wrestlers) got them a slot in the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament.

Long since retired, they returned to the ring for one match at the NWA Legends Show in 2007 where they beat George South Sr. and Jr. Coincidentally, George South Sr. was one half of The Gladiators, whom the Mulkeys had beaten more than 20 years earlier. South's Gladiator partner was Gary Royal.
