Do you believe that black people are the most homophobic?

I was in class today and we were having a debate about gay marriage but before I could give my answer someone said that they already knew I was against it. But they were surprised when I said I was all for it. Do you think that it is true that black people are more homophobic or is it just another useless stereotype?

A lot of my black family is against it. They are southern though and even though they are against it we have some gay people in the family and the gay people are still excepted, the family just sighs about it. I don't think black people hate gays but the ones i know shake their heads at it. They aren't going to attack somone or say eww get away from me though.

Thats a new one to me. Being a caucasion from the north and then moving to the south in florida... I thought I've heard them all.

That is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. What possible evidence could support that any single race is more afraid of a sexual preference than another. Its simply taboo to most, and taboo to any race is still taboo all in the same...so you could imagine a fear of the unknown to spark in all races.

I'm straight but I'm for the gay movement as I am for any supressed minority. Once the vast majority is educated of minority then the only haters left will be truelly evil people and those who think they are still supressed will be the ignorant. For instance: Gays are supressed now, but in one or two open minded generations it will be whining to claim that their acheivements are due to being gay if they do not have everything they want.... and the only people left still hating them will be ignorant or evil or both.

I will end on the note that I have two gay black friends and I'm sure their not homophobes! I wish people would bite their tongue if they are just going to be hatefull.

I believe that black people are the racial group that is most against gay marriage, but i don't believe being anti-gay marriage is the same as being homophobic. Muslims are a group that is also mostly against gay marriage but they're not a racial group.

Because of religion and some African Americans being really religious, it is somewhat true, but Americans are like that in general.

David Patterson governor of New York wants a gay marriage law pass, and he's Black, so not all are against it.

I don't see it as a black or white thing. It's a personal choice to be for it or against it. I am black and I wont say I am for churches being forced to marry homosexuals however if a church is willing to marry them more power to them. I don't see homosexuality as wrong because it's not my choice. I'm not gay there for it has nothing to do with me. If people of the same sex wanna be together let them I don't see why people have such a big problem with it maybe because they think they are perfect themselves idk but they need to wake up.

Homophobic is not the same as anti-gay marriage; it's gay phobia. Then it depends on the demographic -- it's more than race to it. I'm white and I thin gay marriage should be legal at the same time animal-human marriages are made legal.

Well until they survey every person in every race about same sex marriage there is no way of truly knowing which race is more homophobic.

I think that in our culture we think that being gay is less manly and less gangsta, that's why we come across as being homophobic! I personally think that it is less manly to have children and don't take care of them and treat the mother of the children like sh*t and string them along and not marry them! I think that being gay doesn't mean that they are less than a man, it is his deminer that makes him a man!

Why do people always pick on black people? Or single out a race or religion? Its very ignorant.
