You can copy a game to the hard drive, but you still have to put in the original disc to prove you own it. It reads the disc only long enough to prove that it's there, and then the game loads and runs from the hard drive.

You still need the game disc. Only some of the game files are loaded onto the hard drive. If all the game files were loaded onto the hard drive and you no longer needed the disc, people would buy games, load them then return them, and so forth. Not good for business.

You're technically not burning the game into the hard drive, you're just installing it, so that when you play it, SUPPOSEDLY less memory is taken up and it will perform better. I did this with both GTA4 and Fallout 3 and both games performed WORSE. I wouldn't suggest doing this at all, it's a waste of time and HD space.
