Freezing food for future use?
So, breakfast around here is crazy, and often missed, which is not a good thing. So I am trying to come up with ideas for quick breakfast items, so that people can at least grab a little something in the mornings. We really like those little Jimmy Dean sausage biscuits (I know, not the healthiest thing, but better than nothing), but they're kinda pricey. So I thought about making my own. So here's the questions:
If I bring the ground sausage directly home (without freezing it), make it into patties and cook them, can I then freeze them? And if I bake some biscuits, split them, and put the cooked sausage patty in it, can I freeze them that way as well? And if anyone knows, if it IS safe to do those things, can I just microwave until thoroughly thawed and heated, and then eat?
Also, any quick breakfast ideas are appreciated as well ;) Thanks!

Actually, you can even use frozen sausage as long as it's fully cooked before you refreeze it. So yes, your idea works and saves money. I'd suggest freezing each one in a sandwich bag inside a larger bag so you can grab the quantity needed, as needed. You can also freeze pancakes, waffles, French toast and individual servings of bacon and sausage.
You can also use the microwave in the morning to make quick scrambled eggs to add to the sausage and biscuits (with cheese).

yes, yes, yes!!! I make up a few dozen of these every couple of weeks. Add a folded up slice of american cheese or a slice of cheddar. Take one or two (have teen boys--3-5) heat the biscuits for a minute or so...a glass of juice and they are good to go.
Source(s): There isn't anything to hurt them as long as the sausage is already cooked.
