I'm from Strongsville, Ohio which is a southwest Cleveland suburb. I've now hit 60 and it depends upon the day as to whether I feel younger or older! I enjoy cooking and baking as well as gardening. My mother was a home ec teacher so she taught me well from a young age.

  • Peanut Butter Frosting - Anyone have a great recipe?

My friend has asked for a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting for her birthday cake tomorrow night. I've got a great recipe for the cake (Everyday cocoa cake from Epicurious.com that I've made numerous times over the years). But I've never even had peanut butter frosting so don't really know how to evaluate the recipes online. Some have 1/3 cup peanut butter to 4 cups powdered sugar while others have 1 cup peanut butter to 2 cups powdered sugar.

Can someone that's made peanut butter frosting offer a really good recipe? It's likely my friend's last birthday since she has Stage 4 cancer.

  • Why do people post recipes without the title or the website?

A lot of times I can tell that someone just cut and pasted a recipe, but they don't give the name for it or where they found it. If they gave me the name and the source, I could print it out more easily so I could make it. I don't mind "untitled" recipes if it's a homemade recipe. But it bothers me when it's obviously from a website and they don't list the source.

Does this bother you also or is it just me!?!

  • Conditions of Parole?

My brother is being released from prison next Monday. Will I be able to find out his conditions of parole (5 years) from someone other than him? When he got out the last time (yes, this is his second time because he violated his terms the first time and was sent back for the balance of his original sentence), his lawyer mailed me a copy, but that man is no longer involved. To the best of my knowledge, my brother doesn't have a lawyer.

I'm curious to know his terms so I can help him avoid any further problems than the ones he's already facing.

  • Best way to reheat Prime Rib?

I have wonderful prime rib leftover from Christmas that I currently have in the freezer along with about 1/4 cup of the au jus. The piece of beef is about 2 1/2 inches thick and includes both one end cut and then the rest up to the wonderfully rare center. What would be the best way to reheat this, yet retain it as rare as possible?

  • Since we have sex offender registries, why don't we also have them for murderers?

A lot of murderers get out of prison after a relatively short period of time. Yet they can live where they want and don't have to publicly announce their felony. Why do we only know or have easy access to where sex offenders live?

  • Peach Crisp Thickener?

I want to bake peach crisp in the morning to take to my mother and others in her nursing home. Do you think flour, corn starch or quick tapioca makes a better thickening agent for peach crisp? We like our topping and other flavors (almond extract instead of vanilla or lemon juice), but I'm undecided on the thickening agent.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Substitute for Baking Powder - proportions of baking soda and cream of tartar?

I'm making cookies in the morning and don't want to run to the grocery to buy baking powder. Does anyone remember how much baking soda and how much cream of tartar I can substitute for the baking powder? I'm pretty sure those are the only 2 items in baking powder and I have those. Thanks!
