Do You Think We Would See Protestors Taking To The Streets In Record Numbers...?

If a State-by-State ban were ever approved and applied to the different Constitutions, banning divorce in any form?

Update:

How clever. So if divorce were banned, people would just split up, right? What makes you think that therefore it would not be considered illegal to try to remarry again, since divorce would be outlawed? As it is now, it's a sin in the Catholic faith to remarry without an official annulment of the previous marriage by the Vatican. So, basically what you're saying is that if divorce were outlawed, the conservatives would willingly sign off on people 'living in sin'? Hardly likely.

Update 2:

And Debbie P., if you believe that marriage is simply a 'legal' contract, I have some nice real estate in the Florida Everglades I'd like to sell you. If marriage was simply a matter of establishing or dissolving legal contracts, the whole issue of gay marriages being controversial would be null and void.

Well it would never pass, because divorce rates are high even among conservative Christians. But if it did, you would see far fewer people getting married in the first place.

People would just separate without divorce or they just wouldn't get married in the first place. Since marriage is a legal contract, I doubt it could ever be made illegal to break the contract.

edit: That is precisely why gay marriage should be legal. It is nothing more than a contract between two consenting adults. That's why to dissolve the marriage the couple needs to go to court. People who consider it more than that are biased by their own religious beliefs.

As it stands, the constitution bans nothing regarding marriage. That may be where you are confused.

Divorce goes against God, just like Gay marriage and Abortion.

    Divorce should be illegal.

Who would care, just leave each other, with or without divorce.
