How do I number records in a Report in Access 2003?

This is a very simple question and I'm embarrased that I need help.

I have a report that prints a table of completed applications (Name, ID#, Status).

I need to create a field that numbers each record printed in the report but I cannot figure out how to do it.

I also need to record the total # printed on a line that says "Total completed forms="

Any help you can give me will be great.

Thanks

there are a couple of ways to do this:

in the report designer, you could add a new label field and enter some boiler plate code in to increment with each record... or

I prefer to include a field in the initial query and use that as the incremental indicator. Of course, you will need to include the additional field in the report.

Once you have this field you will need to add another field to set the grand total. (or if you are using the wizard, just include grand total as one of the configured options for the report.
