How will Brett Stewarts ongoing dramas effect Manly in 2010?

His sexual assault case moves on to committal proceedings on the 4 February, 2010 with his Barrister Clive Stern SC admitting there was a 'prima facie case' against Stewart based on the allegations. This almost guarantees a trial to be held probably in April or May 2010. How is this going to effect, if at all, Manly & Stewart's preparation for the 2010 season? Thoughts.........

I think it will stuff 'em for a while.

This is not going away and if the rumours are true that I've heard around the peninsular and backed up here on Yanswers, then Brett will have to put right up the back fields of the training yards at Narrabeen Fitness camp HQ.

His brother takes it pretty hard and these young guys have to put up with a lot of silly media shite.

I guess we have to wait and see, Brett would be a great loss and it would be hard to concentrate on footy with a court trial hanging over his head, the sooner it is all over the better and one way or another there is no player in the game who cannot be replaced, I personnally hope he is found NOT GUILTY and he can get back to what he does best "play footy", and I fully agree with George T that Choco Watmough is shouldering to much of the workload in the Manly team he is the backbone of the team and needs all his teammates to play with the intensity and committment that he does week in week out.

  • I think they will struggle a fair bit, when it is only affecting one player it can cause a lot of tension in the team. Bulldogs 2004 pre-season drama involved many of the players, they stuck together strong and went on to win the comp above adversity. Manly is in a slightly different predicament, because only one player is suffering.

This is all before we consider he may be found guilty, in which case I think Manly lose too much in attack and his defensive reads and speed to get into the right position at fullback will be missed. Orford's career winding down, too much dependance on Anthony Watmough, I can't see them having a successful year without Brett Stewart firing from the back.

    Well whatever happens happens.

Brett will carry out his business normally and if he is doesn't play, it will be a dent but there will be ways around it, Robbo/Hopoate to fullback like we done all year this year.

The sooner this case is sorted the better.

I think they will be able to keep in-form and play some good footy. Nothing too much will come from this scandel. It never happened coz she just wants some mony. How about I go around say that I've slept with some female sportsperson who is on top of their game...like basketball or soccer.
