what should I write about in the commentary section for my school newspaper.?
My first deadline is tomorrow and I still haven't thought about anything to write about yet! Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have a couple roads to follow:
1) Pick a topic near and dear to your heart (what do you care about, what are you passionate/concerned/in favour/in opposition of?).
2) Pick a topic that people at your school (i.e. the people who will read the newspaper) are talking about.
Some reminders:
-Know your audience. Think about the people who are reading this commentary.
-Be ready to verify any facts you use to support your opinions.
-Be aware of how much space (800 words, 500 words, etc.) you have.
-Don't bury the lede.
-Answer the "why is this important to me" question readers ask.

I would write about unfairness regarding the legal status of personal marijuana use, but that's just me. I think it's a really important issue.

Write about that poor kid that was beaten up in Chicago and died he was killed by other black kids from his neighbourhood I think it was gang related! he was just an innocent by stander!
