When a Texas newspaper once defended slavery/plantation agriculture/secession/the Confederacy should it be taken as a legitimate source?

Someone linked an page from The Marshall News Messenger a daily newspaper from Texas which claimed cases of election fraud, specifically 'cases' made by Democrats.  Founder of The Marshall News Messenger Robert W. Loughery defended slavery and plantation agriculture and supported the secession of Texas and later the Confederacy helping elect multiple secessionists in Texas.  When a newspaper has such a sketchy beginning should it be taken as a legitimate source on anything specifically claims of election fraud.
