Why is Whoopi Goldberg using this defense for Roman Polanski?

First, I resent the fact that you are lumping all liberals together. I consider myself a liberal and I am african american. I am so SHOCKED and DISGUSTED by Whoopi's comments that I am actually hoping she is replaced on the show. As a mother of two girls, I am sickened and disgusted that she is defending that piece of slime. He raped and sodomized a CHILD after giving her drinks and drugs. He is a pig. It isn't difficult to figure out WHoopi....her own daughter was sexualized at an early age (probably due to Whoopi's poor parenting and quest for stardom) and had a child at 15. Whoopi at no point ever mentions that even though it is public record. She clearly thinks grown men having sex with 13 year old children is FINE. She is also an actress and she does not want to alienate her other Hollywood friends or other directors. It is really sad and disgusting. IT shows that there are no morals in Hollywood. They are all defending this sick bastard.

I just read an article about this at Salon.com. The facts in that article were that the girl was given Quaaludes and champagne first, then raped and sodomized. In any case, whatever happened to "no means no" and "what part of no don't you get"? This girl said no repeatedly, and Polanski still raped her. The Hollywood libs are like some out-of-control fraternity that commits these crimes and then protects their frat brothers when they get caught. It's sick.

Why is it that when a priest or some smoe rapes, let alone a child, leftists are outraged, as they should be, but because Roman is famous, and old, he should be left off? Maybe somebody should rape one of Roman's kids and see if he wants to just forget about it.
