Christians why do we waste our breath on Atheists...and continue knowing they won't listen?

It's obvious that an atheist is not going to listen about the word of God,why keep forcing it down their throat? If one would listen it would be worth it but Jesus said try and if they won't listen wipe the dust from your feet. Doesn't this mean to go on.

such a refreshing spark of rationality....now if you'd kindly inform your bretheren to keep out of secular affairs, there'd be no problem at all....

EDIT - @discord - I have no objection to you voicing your opinion, but when it comes to legislation, personal beliefs need to be checked at the door

A double edged sword can cut two ways, friend I'm friends with people and show them respect. Must of them are Christian. I don't mock your God, but I don't believe in him. I'm sorry I'm expressing my rights. Why do you waste your breath on me? Your wasting breath from "I've heard" to "names..." and that's by your own standard. I didn't distort your words, I just made them clear to everyone here, reading this. Have a responds to that? Oh, and, until all atheist of the world answer your question, you are still assuming. Second answer: I'm here answering your question because I find your arrogance humorous. There's a reason arrogance isn't a sin. Anyone who believes in Hell would root there, because of the sin of arrogance. I'd mourn my friends, but not you.

    Hello love Christ!!!

You are absolutely right. The bible says that if they do not receive you, wipe the dust from your feet as a testimony against them. We are to share the good news with all we come across. We can not force them to accept it. You know that we are persecuted even as our Master was persecuted. No servant is greater than his Master. Do not get discouraged and do not stop spreading the gospel of peace wherever you go. That is the Great Commission. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad when you are rejected for the gospel's sake. For great is your reward in heaven.

Source(s): To peach fuz: To follow the Word of God is showing the love of God shed abroad in our hearts. I think perhaps that you should read your bible. Judge not lest ye be judged...

No Christian should stop talking to others because of our different beliefs. I would never abandon a friendship with an Atheist because he doesn't believe in God. That would be his choice. In fact, I'm sure that some Atheists could be better friends than those who claim to be Christian because the Atheist maybe more trustworthy. Atheists should reinforce your beliefs based on how you approach their questions, or, in some cases, insults. I think that some of the arguments in this category are interesting. Why shouldn't we keep the dialogue going?

I would pray for a non-believing friend as I would for one who believes in God.

Absolutely a waste of time since they know the truth!!

Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without skepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child's acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skepticism and deters more open minded thinking.

They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!!

Atheists have the intellect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world!!

Agnostics have the intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to throw of the conditioning entirely.

Sadly Christians are still held firmly prisoner by the self perpetuating brainwashing!!

This is the best question ever posted here by a christian,

You should do just that, they won't bother trying to 'help' you - unless taking the piss out of and humiliating you here counts - so you should simply say to hell with them, and if there is a hell and they end up there well tough shite to them....most of your efforts are in vain anyway and could be used to better ends - they'd be fine with it that way and you'd have more time to deal with ppl you may/may not be able to help/convert.

    Here's one from the bible

''do not give dogs what is sacred, do not cast your pearl before swine, or they may turn round and trample them under their feet then turn and tear you to pieces''

Not exact quote but you should adopt this attitude, if you did they'd show you more respect

Yes, it does mean to go on. But, don't forget our Great Commission from our Lord Jesus. We are supposed to spread the Gospel to every corner of the world. That means we are supposed to present the plan of God, through His Son Jesus to everyone, even the ones whom we know to be Atheists or Agnostics.

Once we have told them of salvation through Jesus, that thought is lodged in their mind. That's when God's Holy Spirit begins His work of convicting them of their unforgiven sins and making sure they remember the words you spoke to them.

The Holy Spirit will continue to remind them of their need for Jesus until an unspecified period of time until He knows that their rejection of Jesus is permanent. At that point, the Holy Spirit backs off from that person and allows him to slip away into satan's kingdom.

very good question and I think it is silly to try to convert an ardent atheist. However, one also has to ask why they feel the need to come on this section and comment on questions about the bible and such that christians are asking. They too are trying to convert people. So it is a two way street.

Maybe if jesus or god or allah or whoever else comes down and speak their so called "words" then maybe some would be open minded enough to listen. Until then, man won't make me a believer.

I don't answer for them..I answer for the ones who aren't talking, but are reading..

I'm not forcing nothing down their throat, it's a religion and spirituality board...That's the topic..

@ Corrupted, who do you think you are to say that I cannot voice my own opinions as a taxpayer? Simply because my views are not in line with yours? I deserve to be heard as a citizen just as much as you think you should be.

It is wise to plant seeds in fertile soil, and the Buddha taught only to those who had but little dust in the eyes. All we can do is offer the words of truth and if they listen then they will benefit, and if not they must find their own way. Either way, everyone must care for their own self, no prophet can lead a person to enlightenment, they must do it on their own.
