How to remove the smell of garlic?

Does anyone have a tried and tested method for removing the smell of garlic from your hands after chopping it?!? Thanks!

Update:

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions - I decided to give the stainless steel spoon method a go... and you're right - it works! Thanks all!

rub your fingers with stainless steel no kidding that is what the kitchen stores are selling those gizzmos for and they work but a piece of cutlery will do.

I cook with fresh garlic like you do. Rubbing your fingers on stainless steel works to take the smell off. I have bought a scent remover which is stainless steel in the shape of a bar of soap, for very inexpensively, that I keep on the window ledge above my kitchen sink. But rubbing your fingers on any stainless steel works as well. Or you could buy those disposable food handling gloves which they sell in grocery stores now and use those when you handle garlic.

To remove the garlic smell from your hands, simply rub your hands with a stainless steel spoon or other stainless steel utensil

  • I agree with the first person!! You can buy these soap sized stainless steel things that you rub on your hands like you do a bar of soap when you rinse your hands but rubbing your hands simply on your stainless steel sink does the trick too! It works for onions and garlic like a charm! No chemicals, no nothing!! Best wishes!

Try this, I have and its work.

Take a quarter sized amount of toothpaste and rub over your hands for 30-60 seconds.

    Rinse!

The smell of garlic will be gone!

stainless steel does work, if you don't want to make the purchase, you can just use salt.
