A question about my Beagle?
My wife and I got our Beagle when he was 5 months old and he's almost 14 months now. However, anytime we leave the house, he continually whines and cries. We're thinking of getting a 2nd dog so he has a friend and from everything I've read, Beagles have bad separation anxiety and hate being alone. I'm wondering if anyone with experience with this situation would think this would help? Or if you have any other advice. I don't know what else to do and I feel bad for him, he always has plenty of food and water, a lot of toys and a lot of space to run around in.

Beagles are pack animals, even more so than other breeds. They NEED company. Please consider getting another dog, as Beagles are highly intelligent and get bored easily. This is also a reason they can be destructive.

I have 2 beagles and yes you should get another beagle. My younger female was adopted 2 yrs ago and she has separation anxiety. When we get home she cries like a big baby, but she is fine when left alone with my older beagle and when we take cleo out, we have to take roxy with us or roxy goes crazey. Good Luck

Your beagle has become attached to you, which is a good thing...until you leave.I do think getting another beagle should help resolve the problem. But If and when you do get another beagle get ALOT of "Kong" toys. You just put the treats in and it should give him hours if playtime!!!This is what we did with my Deagle (Beagle/Dachusand)!!
Hope I helped!!:)
