Should I go to an interview in Memphis, TN driving from Atlanta, GA for a library assistant position?
It has been hard to land any kind of library job here in Georgia.(As a matter of fact, any type of freggin' job in GA, I have been layed off for almost six months and work a part-time security job!!!) I have accepted an interview in Memphis. It will take me approximately $300 to get there and I am not guaranteed the job.
Also, the job only pays under $12.00, but that is acceptable when trying to break into the library field. However, I don't think that's enough for me to relocate being a single mother and all.
Is it worth a try? Should I stay or should I go?

if u can afford the $300 and if being a library asistant is what you like and want, go for the interview. as u are aware, you are not guaranteed for the job, and the pay appears low to require u to relocate with a child. Ask them how many people are they interviewing, so that you can see if it is worthwhile for the trip

If that is the field you want to work in then it is likely worth pursuing. That is a low salary to move for and I am guessing the head Librarian job is not too high paying either.
But if that is what you want to do for a career then this may be a shot.
Memphis is a decent place to live and cost of living is reasonable. I am surprised Atlanta does not have more jobs to offer. Atlanta is growing faster than Memphis area.
Memphis is a heavy distribution focused city so they are somewhat recession resistant when it comes to losing manufacturing jobs.

If you don't do it, you may always wonder if you should have. A door has been opened to you, and, even if you don't know for sure you can take the position if offered after the interview, it would not be a good idea to close the door before checking it out.
