OH MY GOD!!? he's gone!? He's finally gone? Bye Wedge?

Nah nah nah nah

nah nah nah nah

HEY HEY HEY

GOODBYEE

The Indians finally fire manager Eric Wedge after two dissapointing seasons in a row,and seven years with the team overrall.

Thoughts?

As you can tell, I'm quite happy.

Update:

Johnny; Did I ever say that wedge was THE problem?

No.

I know the Dolans, Shapiro and even teh quality and will power of our players are a problem.

But Wedge was a TERRIBLE mananger.

Terrible.

He couldn't figure out how to just stick with one line up, and couldn't keep his players in their most comfortable position

he overworked some players and underworked others

and idk, or care who the next manager should or will be. I just know he's gonna be better than Wedge.

Read it a little closer next time. Thanks.

Update 2:

Thanks Johnny.

Sorry for coming off as a bit of a smart-as* but that got me going lol.

I wouldn't mind Valentine....

and lets hope the Cavs finally win one for Cleveland..

I thought the Indians were going to be contenders this season. I did not think they were going to have this bad of season. There comes a time when some teams just need that breath of fresh air. I think the Indians reached that point and realized that it is time to get some one new in there. Hopefully the guy that is in charge of the club can keep them motivated. I hope to see the Indians compete again soon.

Well, another mistake by the lake. Wedge is a longtime and talented baseball man. He was a catcher and always regarded him as a Mike Scocia type of guy, low keyed and moderate. The only difference is the fan base and the team management.

He never had great personnel. I think you Indian fans will see it next year. There is a reason that its been so long since 1948. At one time they had three Hall of Fame pitchers on the staff ay the same time (Feller, Wynn and Lemon) as well as Flip Rosen, Bobby Avila and Larry Doby and couldn't put it together.

Also I noticed your interest in the Cavs. Shaq could be the difference this year. I will miss Szczerbiak, but stuff happens and people move on. He was going to make $13M this year and his production was on the way down.

If you think that Eric Wedge was THE problem you are very naive. Make another post and put down who should be the new manager.

Source(s): edit: I apologize. You are correct, you didn't say Wedge was the problem. The Indians have always been notorious tight wads. They will need to free up some money to get some players and a new manager. I don't have the stats but the rumor was that Mark Turgeon, when he left Wichita State to coach Texas A&M basketball, made more than Wedge (a former WSU baseball All-American) made managing the Indians. My suggestion for the new manager might be Willie Randolph, players love to play for him and he might do better out of the NYC spotlight. Bobby Valentine is also available but I am not really convinced of his talent, although he did well in Japan. On the basketball front good luck next year. I always like to see small market teams do well. With Shaq, Mo and Z they ought to have it all. Boobie is a special guy to me I have seen him play AAU ball since he was 11 or12 in the Houston area.

I don't agree Wedge was a terrible manager. But this year he had a terrible roster to work with..of course he had to change the lineup when they were losing so many games.

He will have a job somewhere soon enough.

Grady Sizemore seriously underperformed, even before his injury, and he's supposed to the best or 2nd best player. Fausto Carmona is also supposed to be an ace..and Cliff Lee was not performing, so I don't know what Wedge was supposed to do.

The franchise needs rebuilding and it will take 5 years.

I agree it's not a proper question, but I try to understand it anyway.

This sucks!!! I've been soooo mad all day! :( I slept in today. And the first thing I wake up to today, is my sister calling me on my phone telling me that the Indians fired Eric Wedge.

At least he's finishing up the season with them! :)

Here are my thoughts. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yet YA is NOT an open forum for merely venting them. You've not truly asked any sort of question at all. None that seeks knowledge nor shares it with others.

It's tough to compete when management trades away your best players.

  • consider it a blessing. time to win the pennant 2010.

As long as they don't steal our pitching coach (John Farrell) to replace him, I'm happy for you
