Are Americans ruder now?

I need a second opinion. Do you guys think Americans are becoming ruder now? Have you encountered any rude Americans? How do you deal with it? I need ideas for my essay, so please do help. Also, should rudeness be a serious national problem?

    Not particularly...

We are loud, boisterous people... When coming back from Europe, it is a culture shock to come back to the US and when you come from more "Restrained" people, like the french, you REALLY notice the difference...

But in general, nope... We are just different from you and your ways may seem rude to us.

Haha yeah, duels in the streets.

Just yesterday I had a duel with my friend at dawn, using our flintlock pistols. I missed him but I shot his cowboy hat off. He hit me in my sheriff star.

Please. That example is archaic at best, and mostly refers to the largely criminal and unpoliced settlements in the early American West. Citing this as evidence is like me saying Egyptians are bossy because they enslaved Hebrews, or that that English doctors are bad because in the middle ages they used superstitious theories about blood in cracked eggs to verify whether or not someone had the black plague.

It really depends on where you are. In New York, people are very often indelibly rude because they are very tired of tolerating crowds and being courteous. It's the same in London. I politely smiled to a passerby and he gave me a frightened look, followed by a glare and asked me, "Do I know you?"

In small towns, people are generally more polite. Some cities still have a courteous etiquette as well, such as Seattle.

If you're referring to people on the internet being rude, that is an entirely different matter. Rudeness knows no nationality, and it is more that the liberating feeling of anonymity entitles people to be thoughtless and insulting without consequence, which helps them make up for a lack of self confidence.

I encounter all kinds of rude people, even those from other countries. Being rude has nothing to do with the country either. If someone is rude then I either say something back if I'm pissed off enough and if it isn't that serious I am like whatever and just ignore it as it is a waste of time.

some Americans have always been rude. Most I know aren't, but many I know are as well. Americans are becoming ruder. The reason might be greed or the economy and people angry and stuff, You Know....!

No, it's always been that way. Americans use to have duels in the street. Cowboys used to throw people out of bars through the windows. Newspapers used to be published saying all kinds of lies about opponents without any shame.

It's all been said and done before.

I think that people now days see a lot more people than they used to. I think that is the reason, they have always been there just haven't run into them yet

maybe they have been rude but I think now they are much cruder, the lack of respect for other people, the most grungy clothes being the height of fashion, the unkempt hair as the latest style everyone wants and shows like, what's his name, the ex mayor, and the defrocked radio junkie etc. totally insane and definitely on the road to ruination
