Are there psychology studies of the effects on people after being wronged/slighted?

The question I am pondering is why do people react the way they do after being wronged/slighted?

I know there are some obvious answers but has it ever been truly studied? ie. The Psychology of Being Slighted

If anyone can point me to papers or books I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have never read anything on it save for a few journals which would probably be too much unless you are a social scientist yourself. The only interesting thing I know is that humans can recognize those who cheat them more often than those who do not. There is a part of our brain that turns on after being slighted to solidify the memory of the person who cheated us so that it doesn't happen again. If someone doesn't cheat us but does business with us or interacts with us in an appropriate way, we are less likely to remember them, and will remember them with less detail when we do.

Hope that was interesting, and I hope someone points you in the right direction with a book.

The info is everywhere you just didn't realize it. Buy a book about overcoming the ego. It can be about the Tao Te Ching, or Law of Attraction or just about any self development book.

Think about it. Why would anyone react to being what they perceived as slighted? Because they're ego has been bruised. A wiseman once said that if offered a plate of poop, one can either accept it and eat or ignore it and the giver is stuck with it. That's the gist of it anyway. LOL
