how to clean converse shoes...?

how do you clean converse shoes. i thought about putting them in the washer, but i dont want to mess them up and my daughter got hers really dirty. if anyone could help me out that would be great!!

    MR CLEAN MAGIC ERASER. WORKS WONDERS AND IT COMES OUT SQUEAKY CLEAN. ALL THE SCUFF MARKS WILL GONE. ITS ONLY A COUPLE OF BUCKS.

    Use Toothbrush and Baking soda try not to over wet it though.

    This will work great.

    need to wash shoe strings?

    Toss them in cup with tablespoon bleach.about hour rinse ,

    and hang dry
