[ POLL ] Which of these "2 sport players" do you consider the best: Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders?

BEFORE you choose one, you have to consider how good they were in both sports. Example: Michael Jordan is the best in basketball (100%) + mediocre in baseball (50%) = 75% rating. Do your own ratings per each of them and let me know who you think is the best in a 2 sport combo.

A) Michael "Air" Jordan - Basketball & Baseball.

B) Bo "Knows" Jackson - Football & Baseball.

C) Deion "Prime Time" Sanders - Football & Baseball.

D) I'm too young to know who Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders are.

E) I like all three of them and it's too hard to decide.

X) Create your own custom 2 sport player answer. (1 sport has to be baseball)

Bo knows the answer is "B"

Bo knows that minor league baseball isn't really baseball

Bo knows that being a weak hitting outfielder isn't good enough

Bo knows that whomever was a MLB all star AND an NFL Pro-Bowler is the answer.

The only thing Bo didn't know, was which sport to concentrate on. Could have been a HOF in either but ended up just being really good at both equally.

Bo Jackson is by far the best athlete out of this group. He has been compared to Jim Thorpe, Josh Gibson, and other great athletes of the 20th century. If he would have chosen one sport, he would have been Deion's 2 Super Bowl rings came when he played with two really good teams. 49ers had Rice and Young. The Cowboys had Smith, Aikman, Irvin, and Moose. Deion was not the main reason the Braves won the World Series. It was their pitching. In baseball good pitching will win championships over good hitting. Brian Jordan was a great athlete in terms of his diverse abilities and being able to reach the highest performance levels in two different sports. All three of these men were phenoms but Bo Jackson was by far the best of the three.

Hands down- Jim Thorpe. Thorpe played Professional Football, baseball and basketball and excelled in each sport. He also won Olympic gold medals in 1912 in the pentathlon and decathlon. In 1950 an AP Poll named him the greatest athlete of the first half of the 20th Century. In 1999 he was ranked third on the AP list of all athletes of the 20th Century.

To answer your specific question, it is Michael Jordan. He was so much better than others in his sport, that the 2 other athletes do not even compare. Neither Jackson or Sanders excelled over a period of time at baseball, with Jackson being much better than Sanders.

    E) I know who Deion Sanders was, but only because he was a Brave. I don't know who Bo Jackson was, and I had no idea that Micheal Jordan played baseball. Regardless I dont know enough about how well they played to rate them.

OH! Now that I think about it, I think I read it somewhere, that Jordan went to spring training with the White Sox? Does that sound right?

Even though Jordan was "better at basketball than either Jackson or Sanders were at baseball or football", it's also true that Jordan was far worse in baseball than either Jackson or Sanders were in their 2nd best sports.

Besides, Jordan only played minor league baseball at the AA level...he was never close to being a major league baseball player...so he shouldn't even be on this list. Jackson and Sanders were both good enough to make the major league level in both baseball and football. To say Jordan was "mediocre" in baseball is an insult to mediocre players everywhere. He WASN'T that good. In fact, for a guy who was supposed to be the athlete of the century (according to NIKE), Jordan flat-out sucked at baseball.

I think Jackson was a better athlete than Sanders, although both were obviously outstanding. Jackson was brought up to the major leagues at least a year before he should have been, because Royals ownership stepped in an interfered with the Royals' GM and Manager's decision to keep Jackson in the minors for an additional year. He did make the all star team in 1989 and was MVP of the all star game that year, hitting a mammoth home run in the process. Jackson was not a good outfielder, but his speed (along with a very powerful throwing arm) could compensate for some of his predictable mistakes. Plus, he hustled.

When it comes to football skills, you're comparing a power runner (Jackson) to a super fast defender (Sanders) who could also play the receiver position and who was a very good return man on special teams...two completely different types of players. Both had all-pro skills, but Sanders was more versatile at the NFL level.

Sanders went to NINE pro bowls compared to one for Jackson.

It's really impossible to "combine" their skills in the two sports into a single rating number, but I would give Jackson a very slight edge as the better athlete... he made the all star team in both MLB and the NFL... Sanders was a great and versatile NFL player, but wasn't as good in baseball.

A previous answer already mentioned that Bob Gibson is not only a HOF pitcher, but also played for the Harlem Globetrotters. I would point out that Ferguson Jenkins is also a HOF pitcher who also played for the Globetrotters.

Dave Winfield is a MLB hall of famer who was drafted by MLB (Padres), the NFL (Vikings) the NBA (Atlanta Hawks) and the ABA's Utah Stars.

Winfield is one of two players ever to be drafted by three professional sports, although he only played baseball at the major league level.

To say that Bo Jackson excelled at baseball is a farce. In eight seasons, he never played more than 135 games in one year, had a career BA of .250, with .272 the highest in a full season. He amassed a total of 598 hits, against 841 strikeouts. Not exactly Hall of Fame stats.

Deion sanders played MLB for nine seasons, with a career BA of .263. Never played more than 114 games, the only time he played at least 100.

Michael Jordan dominated basketball in his time, leading the Chicago Bulls to six NBA Championships. MVP five times, 10 times All-NBA First Team, Defensive Player of the Year in 1988; nine times NBA Defensive Team, 14 All-Star Games, 3 times MVP; 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist.

    MJ all the way.

    x) Ted Williams. Teddy Ballgame was not only arguably the greatest hitter who ever lived, but also is inducted in the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame. Certainly, the Splendid Splinter's contributions to the sport of fishing surely outweigh MJ's mockery of baseball.

For those who do not find fishing a suitable sport, then, Bo knows sports. How can you argue the first 2 sport All Star? A Heisman trophy winner. His athleticism was amazing.

I would have to go with Bo Jackson. Unlike Jordan and Sanders, Jackson had a lot of success playing both football and baseball.

    B) I would say Bo Jackson. He excelled in each sport, MJ wasn't a baseball player, and Deion was a joke.
