Why does my dog bite at the air?
I have a 3 year old Shiba Inu and she would just be sitting there and all of a sudden she would bite at the air. she does this a lot.

It's called 'fly-biting' and is an indication of partial seizures. Call your vet and discuss.

my friend also has a shiba inu and he bites the air. But for him he has an ear infection. my husky/russell does the same when his ear is infected. but she could either playing or biting small insects.

There could be a bug that you dont see that she does. Thats what my dog does too! But i can usually see it not always though, sometimes its a moth or a bee

shes fighting with a ghost doggie? or might me a sign of mental instability it happens to dogs just like people ya know.Just keep a close eye out for any other strange behavior or if condition gets worse mention it to your Vet.

Hes just having a good time. of there is a fly bothering him. my dog did the same thing.

agree with the other poster that suggested "fly biting". it is a type of seizure disorder. please take your dog to the vet.
fly biting seizures can progress into full seizures.

she is trying to catch the fly's.
My dogs do that when there is a fly in the house!
