In my life time Clinton. Both Roosevelts were terrific but, LBJ ranks near the bottom.

Hard to say! Only Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln earn some of my respects. F.D. Roosevelt was good during the Depression and World War II. But he made crazy mistakes dealing with Russia's Stalin. Woodrow Wilson was good. His "Fourteen Points", if Europe had followed them, might have prevented Hitler's Germany. And was the first, alongside Theodore Roosevelt, and later F.D.R., in making the USA government more responsible in regulating the economy [that some b-movie actor turned president, has undone... You know, the pal of monkey chimp "Bonzo"]. Since Richard Nixon, all the presidents, except Mr. Obama, have been total jokes: Ford, the bumbling guy falling, peanuts' farm boy Mr. Carter [yet I kind of like him as a guy], movie star Ronald..I hate him, and two bumbling Bushes [yet, kind of like his son despite attacking him for the Iraq war]. Mr. Barack Obama seems the one I can respect, not always agreeing with him in everything, but the way he is attacked makes me wonder if this USA has gone really crazy. USA doesn't get any respect anymore. Hate me, send me the demerits. I tell it like it is. While you waste time watching childish action movies, I am at the libraries checking books of history.

The place was Valley Forge in the winter of 1777, shortly after the signing of the "Declaration of Independence" the American forces (greatly outnumbered) were fighting a against the British (the most powerful nation in the world). Some believe that only 3% of the American people took part in the struggle for independence, and many aided the British cause by giving them housing etc. Prevalent in the hearts and minds of the American people, was apathy, self-interests, uncertainty, and fear. It is well known that George Washington was a man of prayer and great courage as he would ride and lead his own troops into battle.

LBJ was one of the worst. Guns & butter..he gaves us Medicare, Welfare, Vietnam, inflation...sorry.

In my experience, Reagan. In history, George Washington. To pull together a small country destined to become the greatest on earth was truly an accomplishment.
