What's with 'sexy' costumes?

I completely agree. I always thought it would be funny to make fun of those girls and go as some kind of ridiculous "sexy" version of something. Like sexy Storm Trooper or sexy lego block. :P

I partly agree, and partly don't.

On originality, I don't think that matters. Sexy itself is original; decide what you want to make sexy and do it. Sure, there's tons of sexy cheerleaders, cats, nurses, etc. But that's only if you plan on buying one. You could easily make your own costume (sexy cookie?).

But. I think that part of Halloween is going as whatever you want. Its the one day you could even walk around naked, and no one can really say anything (maybe the cops). All the other 364 days, you can't wear anything like that without being looked at funny, or made fun of (as you said, "Hooter's waitress). So, maybe a nine year old running around in short shorts and a tube top isn't hot, but who would let their kid buy that anyway?

I've never once seen a little kid running around in revealing clothes, so I don't really agree when people say our kids are going nuts. Now if they mean 13+ then I'll believe it, but anything younger than that is overexaggerating.

It's frustrating when you're looking for a costume for a project but can't find anything that fits cause all the adult/teen costumes are sexy, I know. But, that's just you. Everyone has a right to wear what they want, and honestly I don't think they're trashy. Only on Halloween would I not care if I passed by a girl in shorts just a few inches below her crotch; so don't assume I'm one of the sexy costume people (I plan on going as one of the dark costumes-- Party City's catalog this year: all the dark costumes aren't as sl*tty as usual!

The ones that really annoy me are the store bought ones. They all look about the same. A super short skirt, some kind of tights or tall socks an a low-cut top.

I've seen some sexy costumes that we're bad, but those are the ones that aren't a "sexy whatever" but rather something that's sexy already. Anyway, you can make totally cool costumes with some sexiness without looking like a whore, although few girls do it.

Big whoop! It's Halloween, and people want to have an evening of fantasy and dress up in something they otherwise wouldn't be able to. They want to have fun and be somebody else for a few hours. And I've never seen little girls wearing them. It's usually the teens, about 14-16, that I see wearing Sexy Devil, Sexy Witch, Sexy Nurse, etc. costumes. I don't care, and neither should you should. Just let people have their fun.

You miss some of the costumes. Some are for the older women to wear in their home at parties. Some are for the older girls to wear. Not all costumes for Halloween are for the small children. I have seen very sexy costumes on women that looked very good and original. You have named off some bad examples but not all costumes fall into that kind of apparel.

Trust me, I know where you're coming from on this. The whole purpose of these "sexy" costumes is that they're supposed to be for adults who go to costume parties. Most men like the costumes. As long as there's a demand, there'll be a supply. Sorry...

I totally agree though I wouldn't want my teenager to be wearing some of the things I've seen. Yet, I'm sure some mothers will allow their kids to wear that stuff. I had a 9 year old as a student once who wore a thong.

I think, once girls reach age 9 or 10, they are bombarded with the media showing a ton of skin, and they want to be just like the celebrities. In their mind, it makes them seem more important. Parents don't think to talk to their kids about the media until they are 13, and by then, they tend to be a bit more rebellious, and it's too late.

your right ,there for adults.My sweetheart will go through the costumes you mentioned in a week,and a lot more throughout the year. They shouldn't be for Halloween kids!

who cares if they aren't original. guys like it, its not classy but it is sexy.anything showing skin is sexy. unless ur fat. really fat.. gross.

so if u wana be sexy dress up like a cat/nurse/hooters/whatever. do not dress up as a zombie or something. remember anything with skin.
