I planted Goldmine carrots, but most came out white. Why?

It has been a relatively cold summer. We had heat in June awhile, then at beginning of Sept, little in between. Thoughts?

There are two possibilities that come to mind:

    1. The seed package was mis-labeled and does not contain the specified variety. (Not likely, but it happens)

    2. The seeds were saved from a carrot that has been crossed with Queen Annes Lace, a wild plant in the carrot family. These often have white roots and usually lack any significant carrot flavor.

    Good luck and enjoy!
