How much pink is too much?

Yes, breast cancer is a terrible disease. I get that. But enough is enough. I can see a pink ribbon, a mention before the game, a PSA during the game, but this is getting ridiculous.

Every coach, player, and official is already wearing a pink ribbon. But that's not good enough. We need pink towels, sweatbands, ball caps, goal post pads, gloves, cheerleaders uniforms, shoes, shoe laces, and a big pink ribbon on the referee's hat. Why not paint all of the lines on the field pink? How about the home team have pink numbers and helmets while the visiting team dons pink jerseys? Why don't the referees have black and pink shirts with pink knickers? I'm expecting to see pink end zones and pink goal posts. The laces on the ball are still white, make those pink as well!

I blame baseball. The pink bats were a cute gimmick, then they had to do pink gloves and pink sweatbands. Next year I bet they're going to dye the baseballs pink and make their bases pink with a big pink home plate.

Again, before you start hating on me, I agree that breast cancer is a terrible disease and there should be a concerted effort to find better treatments and eventually a cure. I just think that the pink overkill is going to do more damage to the cause by burning people out on it.

It would be more productive to use that money for actual research...

I think it was a nice touch to show that the NFL supports breast cancer awareness and research. The pink accessories here and there are no worse than those super ugly throw-back jerseys that some of the teams have sported so far this year. I couldn't even watch that hot mess running around the field.

As a woman, I thought it was great to see "real men" wearing pink!
