I'm a 42 year old married father of one living in the San Diego area. I have my own HR consulting business (I am a certified PHR) but I do not define myself by my profession. I'm much more than that. For fun (how I define myself): - I take and teach karate. I've been teaching and developing kids self defense classes for a several years. I primarily teach kids, but fill in for all levels. - I referee high school and college football as well as high school wrestling. - I stay active with outdoor activities. Having a dog and a family that likes adventure helps. I'd much rather swim with the sharks than drink Mai Tai's on the beach. - I love to travel. I grew up in the Northeast US, but I've lived in Europe and Asia. I love living in San Diego now. It is a good jumping off point for other places.

  • How can you set up a video "drop box" via YouTube?

Is there a way to use YouTube as a place for people to submit videos? Preferably I would like the process to be invitation only so I can keep it to a small, select group of contributors.

  • Favre coming out of retirement to play for the Colts?

The Colts already unretired Kerry Collins. With Manning likely done for the year do you think they'll try to entice #4 back into the game, too?

  • How do you disable the "Press 1 to accept this call" on a Nexus S 4G?

Every time I get a call and slide the green button to accept the call, a voice comes on and says something like "Call from John Smith. Press 1 to accept or 2 to send to voice mail." Then I have to press the keypad button and the 1 button to answer the phone.

The phone is a Nexus S 4G running Android 4.3.2 on the Sprint network.

  • Why, after getting along well for a long time is one cat is hissing/growing at the other?

We took our younger cat (a little over a year old) to the vet for his shots (Leukemia and Rabies). Now our older cat who normally gets along well with him is hissing/growing every time the younger one even comes close.

Could he smell different or something? This has been going on for three days.

  • What are the limits on activity after an ACDF?

I had a one level (C6-7) ACDF done in early November. I am a 43 year old male and was very active before the surgery. I teach karate, officiate college football, and officiate high school wrestling. I am also a recreational skier. My surgeon has not been very forthcoming about what my ultimate restrictions may be. Some of the things that concern me are:

    - running

    - getting occassionally knocked down by athletes

    - getting up and down on the wrestling mat

    - sparring in karate (light contact)

    - doing self defense work (medium contact and being thrown)

    - doing rolls (somersaults) in karate

    - skiing

    - general roughhousing with my kid, nieces, and nephews

Does anyone have any idea what the rest of my life might look like or is very individualized?

  • First substitute teaching assignment on Monday. Any advice?

I do not have an education background so I don't have the benefit of student teaching or even education classes. I'm filling in for a 4th/5th grade combination class for the afternoon.

  • What is worse in the San Diego - Seattle game?

San Diego's kickoff coverage or Seattle's pass coverage?

2 TD returns vs. allowing 4 straight TD passes (TD broght back by penalty, TD, 2pt try brought back by penalty, 2pt try)

  • Should Ken Niumatalolo be punished for getting into the face of the referee at halftime?

He went after the referee instead of going into the locker room and poked the official in the face with his visor.

The coach is supposed to argue and be emotional, but making contact with an official is uncalled for.

  • Do you want to get rid of spammers in the football section?

Last season as game days approached there were dozens, sometimes hundreds of "how do I watch online" questions answered by links to suspicous websites. Most of those websites likely contain somekind of virus or malware. Report these questions (and answers) and just write "BOT" in the comments box. Usually Y!A gets rid of them in seconds.

  • What is stopping my NG line?

All of the houses in my neighborhood were built with a NG line coming out of the back of the house. Everyone else just took off the cap and had gas. I took off the cap, got one puff of gas and then nothing.

There is no valve to this line. I shut off all of the valves to other appliances, took off the line from the meter, and blew it out with a shop vac, didn't even feel the air coming out of this line. I cannot snake it out because there is an elbow joint just inside the wall.

Any ideas short of calling a plumber and tearing out the walls?

  • What do kids do at Carnival Cruises' "Circle C" club?

Our 13 year old daughter is concerned that she may not have fun and wants to just explore the ship on her own. We think she'd be better off with the Circle C club. Does anyone have experience with this?

  • Did Parenthood disappoint anyone else?

Terrific cast, great premise, a lot of promise here.

So the pilot did it's job by allowing us to meet the characters and introduce their struggles that we're supposed to care about in the future. Then they did the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

The family gathers for an event at one of the kid's elementary school. Afterward they are talking outside on campus recapping their story lines. As one father says he confiscated a bag of weed from his daughter, he proceeds to pull it out of his jacket.

Issue 1: What idiot puts his kid's pot stash in his pocket and takes it to an elementary school, then decides to show it to everyone?

After the father shows the weed, another father grabs the bag from him and pulls out some rolling papers.

Issue #2: Do people really carry around rolling papers to elementary school events just in case some other idiot brings out a bag of pot?

The second father then lights up the joint and passes it around to his siblings and their spouses.

Issue #3: Now the protagonists of the story are shown doing drugs at the elementary school where on of their kids attends. Now we're supposed to cheer for these people?

I was really looking forward to seeing a lot of these actors back on TV, especially with some genius producers behind it. But that just lost it for me. I can't see myself caring about this show again.

  • Does HS wrestling benefit from the popularity of MMA?

HS sports is the best bargain in the world, free instruction and experience for four years. So with the popularity of MMA, do you think that HS wrestling has benefited by kids being interested in grappling or are they all just spending money at MMA schools?

  • How much pink is too much?

Yes, breast cancer is a terrible disease. I get that. But enough is enough. I can see a pink ribbon, a mention before the game, a PSA during the game, but this is getting ridiculous.

Every coach, player, and official is already wearing a pink ribbon. But that's not good enough. We need pink towels, sweatbands, ball caps, goal post pads, gloves, cheerleaders uniforms, shoes, shoe laces, and a big pink ribbon on the referee's hat. Why not paint all of the lines on the field pink? How about the home team have pink numbers and helmets while the visiting team dons pink jerseys? Why don't the referees have black and pink shirts with pink knickers? I'm expecting to see pink end zones and pink goal posts. The laces on the ball are still white, make those pink as well!

I blame baseball. The pink bats were a cute gimmick, then they had to do pink gloves and pink sweatbands. Next year I bet they're going to dye the baseballs pink and make their bases pink with a big pink home plate.

Again, before you start hating on me, I agree that breast cancer is a terrible disease and there should be a concerted effort to find better treatments and eventually a cure. I just think that the pink overkill is going to do more damage to the cause by burning people out on it.

  • Who else was infludenced by David Carradine?

I'm still in shock over David Carradine's passing. His portrayal of Kwai Chang Caine was my first exposure to martial arts as a kid and was an early inspiration for me to get involved. I'm sad that I never got a chance to meet him although he and my Sensei were good friends.

Was anyone else influenced or inspired by him when it came to their Martial Arts studies?

  • Internet Explorer error - Memory could not be "read."?

IE shuts down and gives this error. The instruction at "0x05a1ae0d" referenced memory at "0x6c1cef5c". The memory could not be "read".

What does this mean and, more importantly, how do I stop it.

  • Can flexible hose be used to repair supply line for in-ground pool?

Our in-ground pool had a supply line that developed a leak at an elbow joint. Unfortunately, it's in the middle of several other parallel pipes so replacing the elbow and piping with regular rigid PVC is rather impossible. Is it within code to use a flexible hose instead? I live in San Diego so ground freezing is not a problem.

  • Anyone else take in the Sevens this weekend?

I admit that I'm more partial to American football (I played and have officiated it for many years) but a good friend of mine got me into going to the Sevens in San Diego three years ago.

There seemed to be some more parity this year rather than the NZ dominating as they did last year. It was good to see the USA put on their best showing ever. And, of course, hats off to Argentina for controlling England and the USA to win the Cup.

Hats off to iRB for pulling off a great event and I hope to see many of you here next year.

Side Observation: To show it was a truly international event, a fellow behind me was wearing a Scotland T-shirt, put on a Mexican sombrero, was chanting U-S-A and should have watched his French (an American term meaning he was cursing a lot).
