Did Parenthood disappoint anyone else?

Terrific cast, great premise, a lot of promise here.

So the pilot did it's job by allowing us to meet the characters and introduce their struggles that we're supposed to care about in the future. Then they did the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

The family gathers for an event at one of the kid's elementary school. Afterward they are talking outside on campus recapping their story lines. As one father says he confiscated a bag of weed from his daughter, he proceeds to pull it out of his jacket.

Issue 1: What idiot puts his kid's pot stash in his pocket and takes it to an elementary school, then decides to show it to everyone?

After the father shows the weed, another father grabs the bag from him and pulls out some rolling papers.

Issue #2: Do people really carry around rolling papers to elementary school events just in case some other idiot brings out a bag of pot?

The second father then lights up the joint and passes it around to his siblings and their spouses.

Issue #3: Now the protagonists of the story are shown doing drugs at the elementary school where on of their kids attends. Now we're supposed to cheer for these people?

I was really looking forward to seeing a lot of these actors back on TV, especially with some genius producers behind it. But that just lost it for me. I can't see myself caring about this show again.

I guess this is what people in Hollywood think parenting is. I thought it might be a good show too. I have a child that has Asperger's and I was interested to see how they would treat the subject. The jury is still out on that. I am going to give it one more week and see if it gets better. Even my favorite tv show "Burn Notice" started out a little slow but it picked up. Hopefully the same will be true of Parenthood.

Come on, it was funny. Tension is relieved with comedy. You are really going to stop watching a potentially good show because of one scene you don't agree with. The character who rolled the joint looks like a pothead and the mom who took it was totally stressed out and they were making a joke out of it. The show is on at 10pm for a reason and is not meant for a young audience. Many of the jokes are going to be adult and racy just like the old movie version. I think the show will be pretty good and I'm sticking it out for a while. It is a great cast.

Well, I saw part of one episode [Don't accuse me, I was channel flipping while waiting for a different show to start] and I agree with you, the cast is great. I love the mom, mental lapse, can't remember her name, because she also plays the mom in Gilmore Girls and that show is heartwarming. But the thing about her is, I could never see her playing anything but a mom in a TV show! She fits the part. That's all I have to comment on it.

You curiously are no longer a Lauren Graham fan, yet partial to the character she performed on Gilmore females. She is enjoying somebody thoroughly diverse, a various character - in case you do unlike her character or the prepare..........do no longer watch it. Actors replace, or a minimum of ought to, with each and every place they address
