I have sleeping problems?
I am a high school student. Since the beginning of the year (mid August) I have been sleeping from 2AM-5AM or later every night and napping when I get home. I usually doze off in a few classes but nothing that would make me seriously crash. Lately my parents have been getting on to me on napping but I can't stop! I try to force myself not to sleep but it's impossible! It's like I crash! And sometimes I even stay up all night and I went out of town with my family and slept through all of it. And now, my dad just forced me to go to sleep at 10:45 and I thought I would just set my cell phone alarm clock to 11PM so I could do my homework. I wake up to realize it's 5:45AM, a little later than I normally wake up and I'm happy I finally get 8 hours of sleep. I just took a shower and got completely ready only to realize it was 1:15. This is crazy I really need help should I see a doctor or try to force myself not to sleep?

Well, it may be useful for you to make a concerted effort to change your sleeping habits. There's not really any reason why a high school student should go to sleep at 2 AM and wake up at 5 AM. It is unnecessary for you to be falling asleep this late and waking yourself up this early, especially if you are going to take a nap later. Napping will not replace the REM time (replenishes your brain & allows you to dream) that you need every day, which happens in the last 20-30 minutes before you wake up from a full night's sleep.
Go to bed at 11:00 (like your dad suggests) and don't wake up until you need to (most likely something like 6:45, enough time for you to get to school). Take a Tylenol PM 30 minutes before bed if you are having trouble sleeping. You will get full sleep, and wake up more rested so that you will not need to take naps or sleep through family vacations. You might find that you also learn better in school, since sleeping fully gives you a good chance of retaining information that you learn.
However, if you REALLY try to fall asleep, but can't after several weeks, you might have insomnia, and you should get this checked out by your family doctor. He will prescribe you sleep medication and tell you to do the same thing that I just told you to do.

Do away with the daily naps a little at a time and add the vitamin Melatonin to your diet just at bedtime. I thought Melatonin would be a joke as well, but it surprised me and has actually helped quite a bit.
Once you begin getting your nights regulated, you will no longer feel the need to nap throughout the day and you will soon be on a ''regular'' schedule. Or at least a schedule that 'other people' see as being ''regular''.
The name brand of the Melatonin based sleeping aid that i use is bought at Wal Mart and is called Mid-Nite. You can either take it when you go to bed, or take it with you to bed and take it if you feel yourself awakening during the night.
Best of Luck,
Mark

This is not normal, no matter what anyone tells you, it is not healthy.
You need sleep.
Cut back on the sugar, as much as possible. Eat less junk food, take up walking a mile a day, stretch at night for about 5 minutes before you head to bed. plan out your next day the night before, get all your plans down on paper.
after two weeks of all of the above, you should see some serious improvement.

The synthetic mild from the laptop display (or even your cell) can diminish melatonin (the sleep hormone) construction on your frame. Try taking a melatonin suppliment. I take 1mg melatonin on nights that I can not sleep and it really works like a appeal! The most effective downfall to taking melatonin is if you're taking it each night time your frame gets used to it and you'll have got to develop how so much you're taking. I attempt to most effective take it once in a while. I additionally love sizzling tea containing camomile to support me chill out. Sleepy Time Tea with honey is unusual. :)
