Rock + music lovers.....opinions wanted!!?

Hi all, recorded some rough demos with my current band (as our drummer refused to go into a studio ecause he thought he could do as good a job himself with a home recording kit) and they're not the greatest by any means.

Apart from the fact that we aren't very tight due to the timing of the recordings (done straight after a months break) I'm wanting as much feedback as possible on them so I can inform our drummer + the other lads what people think of them (be it good or bad).

So i'd appriciate peoples feedback so I can relay it back to the lads. - So critisise away on whatever you want! (production, musicianship, the songs themselves etc. etc.).

Cheers, here's the link - http://www.myspace.com/asylum49uk

Overall, I liked it, and some parts I really like. Well done! Criticism:

Production: working on what I assume was a limited budget, very good.

    Vocals- strong: Lyrics- OK

Guitarist- talented, and could go far.

Bass/Drums: the main things that let the overall package down imo. They both sound very capable, but they just do not do enough for me. The music produced by both seems to be exactly the same whether it is the start, middle or end of the track, with no variation on the Riffs. Please, let yourselves go a bit! Listen to some of the true greats on your instruments, and see how they contribute. You have the talent- use it!!

First and foremost, it's much better than most of what the industry is pumping out nowadays, but I will say, I'm not crazy about the vocals,

just my taste, but it seems like some more soul could be injected into it. It's almost like Velvet Revolver chose an American Idol contestant for their new vocalist. It's really not as bad as Nickelback, for instance, but it just doesn't seem to do the music justice for me. It works well with slower tunes like "By Your Side," which I'd also reccommend should be accoustic... I just think you could extract some natural Led Zeppelin III-esque sounds out of it like that instead of it sounding like Pearl Jam, which isn't as bad, but hey, LZ >>>> PJ, let's be honest, lol. Possibly, I've been thinking lately, I listen to mostly British groups, so they kinda have that accent a bit... that could be different, but then a few Americans have made something of our crappy way of pronounciation, like Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, and (?) Axl Rose, lol. He needs to sing from his diaphragm, maybe, idk... the kids will probably enjoy it very much, they've gotten used to it... I'm unusual in that respect, I'm not crazy about Mike Patton-esque techniques, but that's my taste... Aside from that, "Punching Bag" doesn't impress me, and alot of it has to do with the singer again... no offense, Jim, but I'm not down with it. On a lighter note, I enjoy Drudd's pic in the band photos gallery, lol.

I hear to J-rock. only approximately somewhat some those songs have translation, I only use google. only enter: *call music* (English) translation. many times you will get a piece with the translation.
